A digital visitor pass has been launched for Derry.
Pass Details
Tourism NI stated on its website, "Visitors and locals alike can now enhance their experience of the city through a new innovative digital visitor pass developed by Derry City and Strabane District Council in partnership with Visit Derry and part funded by Tourism Northern Ireland.
"The Visit Derry Pass is the first of its kind in Northern Ireland and will provide discounted entry to ten of the most-loved attractions and activities across the city. The digital solution already operates in Edinburgh, York and Manchester and Visit Derry is delighted to launch first in Northern Ireland.
"The one-day or two-day integrated pass gives ticket holders access to enjoy multiple experiences within such a compact walkable city iconic sites including The Guildhall, Tower Museum, Siege Museum and The Museum of Free Derry; tours of the City's cathedrals and churches; access to several guided tour options that take in the bustle of the city; and promotional offers to make sure visitors get the very most from their trip.
"It includes a Visit Derry map of the city with local tips and offers to make sure you get the most from your trip."
Mayor Of Derry City And Strebane District Council Statement
In a statement published on Tourism NI's website, Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Alderman Graham Warke, said, "The Visit Derry Pass is an insightful resource which will direct people to the very best of our city's tourism offering while saving them money and time.
"It aims to provide additional content to visitors, attracting additional tourists and increasing the duration of visitor stays while increasing how much they spend.
"It will create a more engaging visitor experience, enabling users to learn more about our rich history through a walking tour and offering access to ten of our iconic attractions for one great price.
"The pass is convenient and easy to use and is available in an instant mobile download to your smartphone."
Tourism Manager At Derry City And Strebane District Council Statement
In a statement also published on Tourism NI's website, tourism manager at Derry City and Strabane District Council Jennifer O'Donnell said, "With the recent reopening of the tourism sector and staycations expected to surge in popularity again this summer the introduction of the Visit Derry Pass is a key way to boost tourism in the region as we enter the COVID recovery phase.
"The pass was designed to enhance the market profile of participating attractions, increase and spread the flow of visitors to the city ultimately resulting in an increase in visitor numbers, dwell time and spend within the region."
Visit Derry CEO Statement
In another statement published on Tourism NI's website, Visit Derry CEO Odhran Dunne said, "The Visit Derry Pass unlocks the sights, stories and secrets to our famous walled city. With something for everyone, the pass enhances our tourism offering and entices visitors and locals alike to visit many of the unique attractions and hidden visitor experiences across the city. With increased market demand for digital products and services across the global tourism industry, the pass can be downloaded onto a smartphone or device making it even more convenient for visitors to use and pre-book before arrival. The integrated ticketing solution has already had great interest from international tour operators as it is a tourism product on offer in many international city destinations across the world."

In an additional statement published on Tourism NI's website, Tourism NI's chief digital officer, Dave Vincent, said, "We are delighted to support this significant addition to the tourism offering here in Derry-Londonderry. This easily accessible pass offers visitors a unique and engaging way to explore the city and learn more about its history. The pass aligns perfectly with our experience brand Northern Ireland Embrace A Giant Spirit and the message we want to send in Northern Ireland which is to support local and explore what is on our doorstep.This innovative experience is part funded by Tourism NI and will be important in supporting our plan to recovery."
