High-end Belfast eatery Tedford's has announced it's rebranding itself as Chandlers Seafood Belfast as part of a revamp which will involve an overhaul of the back of house and kitchen areas as well as the hiring of a new head chef and commencement of a new seafood-focussed menu.
Talking to The Belfast Telegraph, co-owner Sharon Foster, who also owns Tedford's Kitchen on Belfast's Lanyon Quay along with Alan Foster, explained, "We had been concentrating on Tedford's Kitchen and decided it was time for a refreshment of Tedford's. We were never exclusively seafood and that was a theme that was difficult to get away from. We originally branded as Tedford's Steakhouse but everyone still thought we were a seafood restaurant because of the restaurant that was there before us, but we only ever had a choice of a couple of fish dishes."
She added, "We had been toying with loads of different names and because the building is listed as a ship chandler, with that above the door, we decided to go with that. And because we've always been known as a seafood restaurant, we put that in the name."
Chandlers Seafood Belfast will open in early May with head chef Patrick Franklin presiding over the kitchen.
