Subway has announced plans to increase the number of its restaurants in Ireland and Northern Ireland to 321 by 2020, creating around over 400 new jobs.
This follows the announcement of the 100th store opening in Northern Ireland this month. In total, the brand aims to increase the number of stores in Ireland and the UK to 3000 by 2020, creating around 5000 new jobs.
Subway said the expansion plans are in 'response to consumer demand for more affordable quality ingredients and healthier choices'.
Subway stores serve over three million customers each week. There are currently 2,499 Subway outlets in Ireland and the UK, all owned and operated by a network of small business owners.
The most recent total turnover of Subway stores was calculated at approximately £515 million.
