Man Friday restaurant of Kinsale, Co. Cork, is celebrating 40 years in business with the official unveiling of a new look, following an extensive renovation.
The venue's refurbishment includes a heated al fresco dining area, a revamped interior with a relaxed vibe, new bar and updated drinks menu. The restaurant, which only opened for evening service in the past, is now open for lunch with the launch of Man Friday by Day.
Daniel Horgan, son of owner Philip Horgan, is the new proprietor of Man Friday. A Ballymaloe trained chef, Horgan has worked in multiple restaurants in London, one of which received a Michelin star during his time there.
Commenting on the renovation, Horgan said, “I moved back to Kinsale to start working again at Man Friday four years ago and during this time our customers have continually asked us about lunchtime opening hours. Hence the launch of Man Friday by Day. We don’t plan on moving away from any of our signature dishes, such as our renowned seafood chowder, but there’s definitely demand for additional lighter, day-time options also.
“The new lunchtime offering, together with the renovation of our outside area and the bar, now sees the restaurant enter a new era. As we mark 40 years in business, we are extremely excited about what is to come.”
