The Irish arm of online takeaway service Just Eat has seen its profits dramatically increase to €2 million last year.
Newly filed accounts for the company show its profits increased by nearly three-fold from €641,800 in 2014 to €2 million in 2015, helped by an increase in orders of 40 per cent, reports The Irish Examiner.
Just Eat, which has around 1,800 restaurant partners in Ireland, increased its commission by 1 per cent to 13% earlier this year, after previously charging 8 per cent on orders when it launched in May 2007.
It subsequently increased its commission to 10 and 12 per cent over the years, with this years rate being used to invest in technology, innovation and marketing according to the company. The accounts also show that employee numbers decreased by five to 36 people with a total employee cost of €1.43 million.
"Just Eat Ireland has enjoyed a strong period of growth. The Just Eat app has been downloaded over 700,000 times since it launched in October 2013. It is the number 1 app under ‘Food and Drink’ in the App Store in Ireland and has been consistently [so] since launch," said managing director Amanda Roche Kelly.
