Following the news in June that British restaurant company the Ivy Collection is planning on opening its first venue outside of the UK in Dublin next year, Dublin City Council has granted permission to the company to open their new eatery in the One Molesworth Street building adjacent to Dawson Street.
According to thejournal.ie, the approval of planning permission for the venue means that Dublin City Council has backtracked on earlier demands for allocating a large portion of the development's ground floor to retail space.
The decision follows warnings from planning consultants John Spain & Associates that "The suggested reduction in ground floor restaurant space would prejudice the operational viability of The Ivy at this location and the proposal could not proceed. The level of ground floor restaurant space proposed is crucial."
Ivy Collection property director George Jones proclaimed that the One Molesworth Street building was selected as the site for the new restaurant "due to its location in a tourist, office and retail destination, its size over two levels and its setting in a prestigious office building."
