The owners of Gino's Gelato chain, Bray native Jonathan Kirwan and Limerick man Anthony Murphy, are gearing up for further expansion of their business.
The Irish Independent reports that the Gino's owners are hoping to expand into the US and Pakistan in the long-term, but in the near future, they have their eyes set on opening another two or three outlets in the Republic of Ireland as well as one in Belfast.
Cautious Of The UK
However, they are currently remaining cautious when it comes to UK expansion. Murphy explained, "The main concern in Britain at the moment is Brexit and online shopping, taking people off the high streets. If the people are not on the high streets, they can't purchase gelato from us, so that is a worry."
Commenting on the potential involvement of outside investors in the chain's expansion, Murphy said, "There's a number of investors who want to get involved, but we're not interested. We got to our first 21 shops without anyone's help and we'll do another 21 shops on our own."
