Dunnes Stores Planning Two New Restaurants In Dublin City Centre

Irish retail chain Dunnes Stores has announced plans to convert its recently closed homeware store on Dublin's George's Street into two new restaurants.

According to the Irish Independent, Silverwood Developments, which is owned by the same family that runs Dunnes Stores, has applied for planning permission to open two licensed eateries on the premises.

The proposal continues the company repositioning Dunnes has being doing over the last two years, with its shift towards selling designer-named clothing and more upmarket grocery items. Dunnes also operates a restaurant on Dublin's Drury Street called Considered that opened in 2015.

Market sources say that the company could either lease out the former homeware store or develop the two restaurants in partnership with other local operators.
