Deliveroo Announces That It Will Match Customer Tips To Local Restaurants Until February 7

Deliveroo has announced that, to help support local restaurants following the closure of their dine-in services due to COVID-19-related health and safety measures, it will match customers' in-app tips to local eateries for the next month.

The food delivery firm has said that it will match customers' tips up to a total value of €10,000 and up to €20 per tip between now and midnight on February 7 for all of the local restaurants on its app that have closed their dine-in areas.

Local restaurants that are eligible can be found by doing a search for "tip match" on the Deliveroo app or website.

Just before a customer confirms their order at "checkout" on the Deliveroo app or website, they can choose to add a tip to their local restaurant by either selecting from a list of pre-determined values or adding an amount of their choice. The chosen amount for the tip is added to the total cost of a customer's order and 100% of the tip amount is passed on to the restaurant.

Deliveroo has enabled customers to tip restaurants on its app and website since July of 2020, and, since then, Deliveroo customers have given over €150,000 in tips to restaurants across Ireland.

"An Easy Way For Customers To Show Their Appreciation For Their Favourite Local Restaurant"

Deliveroo growth manager IE Paddy Quinlan stated, "The festive season is typically an incredibly busy time for restaurants as they traditionally welcome families and parties through their doors. As we start the new year with restrictions reintroduced for restaurants and pubs on December 30th, these businesses need our support. Tipping in-app is an easy way for customers to show their appreciation for their favourite local restaurant. We want to work with our customers to help ease the pressure on restaurants and show how much they mean to us, especially at this time of year."
