OX in Belfast is to transport its Michelin star cooking to New York for a one-night pop-up restaurant in collaboration with The Dead Rabbit bar on 28 September.
The speakeasy-style bar is owned by Belfast natives Sean Muldoon and Jack McGarry and is well-known for its cocktails, winning awards such as the '2015 Tales of the Cocktails' and 'World's Best Cocktail Menu', reports Irishnews.com.
Tickets for the pop-up, which is called 'OX meets The Rabbit', cost $200, however they sold-out within ten minutes. The event will comprise of a 5-course tasting menu paired with cocktails, where OX chef Stephen Toman will serve dishes such as hay-baked celeriac with trompettes, lardo and truffle, and chateaubriand with hops, smoked potato and artichoke.
Speaking about the collaboration, Muldoon said: "Jack and I admire chef Stevie’s imaginative, ingredient-driven kitchen in Belfast. When a pop-up was suggested, we jumped at the chance to collaborate. Our cocktails have strong culinary elements and complex flavor profiles that make them great matches with his dishes on many levels."
Toman added: "We are excited to see how their drinks interact with our food dishes [which] place as much emphasis on vegetables [than] they do on meat and fish."
