McDonald's has reopened the dine-in areas at 32 of its restaurants in the Republic of Ireland.
New health and safety measures at the 32 restaurants include serving customers via table service only and asking customers who choose to eat-in to leave the name of the lead member of their group, the number of people in their group, a phone number, the date and time of their visit, and the restaurant number, which is identified by a sticker on each table. Customers will be asked to leave these details by using their smart phone to either scan a QR code taking them to a dedicated webpage or by visiting that webpage directly with the URL details provided on each table.
Social distancing measures are also in place at the reopened restaurants, and, to prevent congestion, the restaurants are limiting the number of customers that are allowed inside at any one time.
Additionally, upon their arrival, customers will be asked to use the hand sanitiser provided and follow the safety measures laid out to help keep them, other customers and restaurant teams safe, and McDonald's is asking customers to use contactless payment methods as much as possible.
Other existing health and safety measures include the sanitisation of touchpoints such as self-order screens, card readers and doors at least every 30 minutes; Perspex screens in kitchens, service areas and at drive-through windows; disposable gloves and face coverings for staff in customer and courier facing positions; and fewer staff on each shift.
McDonald's is aiming to reopen the dine-in areas at further restaurants over the coming weeks. The fast food chain has also reopened the dine-in areas at 28 restaurants in Northern Ireland.
