Ireland enjoyed a bumper summer season for tourism, according to the latest figures released by Fáilte Ireland.
Eight out of ten hotels reported an increase in trade during summer 2015, while 70 per cent of guesthouses and B&Bs also improved their visitor numbers.
A weak euro has made Ireland an attractive destination for its two core markets - the UK and USA. Both countries have shown a considerable increase in visitor numbers so far this year.
“Tourism appears now to be firing on all pistons with every sector of the industry now enjoying greater growth,” said Shaun Quinn, chief executive of Fáilte Ireland.
“The visitor experience of value for money, especially given that repeat visitors are an important part of our customer base, will be crucial to providing for tourism growth which is ever-green rather than cyclical.”
Recent figures from the CSO showed that visitor numbers increased by 12.2 per cent cent between July and August.
