Wetherspoon To Invest Over £200m In The Development Of New Ireland And UK Pubs

Pub operator JD Wetherspoon Plc has announced that it is planning to spend more than £200 million on the development of between 50 and 60 new pubs and some new hotels, as well as on the expansion of existing ones, in Ireland and the UK.

The investment is expected to create approximately 10,000 new jobs.

"Smaller Towns And Cities"

While Wetherspoon stated that it will invest in cities such as Dublin, Galway, London, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Birmingham and Leeds, the company's founder and chairman Tim Martin said that "a large proportion of investment will be in smaller towns and cities, which have seen a decline in investment in recent years."

Wetherspoon currently operates 875 pubs and 58 hotels across the UK and Ireland, and employs approximately 44,000 people.
