Dublin’s newest bar and live-music venue has officially opened its doors on Baggot Street.
The Star Bar is situated on a corner of Baggot Street Lower and opens seven days a week, from noon to midnight.
The two-storey space will feature live music seven days a week, across both floors, from regular trad and jazz sessions to exclusive in-house performances.
The artist line-up and roster are managed by Stefan Murphy, a prominent figure on the Irish music scene best known for releasing music as the Mighty Stef, in addition to Count Vaseline, the Sleeveens and the Subtonics. Murphy is the booking and events coordinator at the Star Bar and will also perform with the house band on Fridays from time to time.
“I was delighted when I was offered the opportunity to get involved with the Star Bar, as I could really see its potential as a live-music venue with a more personalised feel to it,” said Murphy.
“Helping create this type of space within the local community has been a challenge I’m enjoying so far.”
The Star Bar will offer a wide variety of beers, cocktails and spirits. There’s also a hatch open from 8am daily, serving coffee and pastries. A wider food offering will be available in the coming weeks.
Some regular events during the week will include the following.
Open-Mic Night: Every Tuesday downstairs at the Star Bar. Sign-up is at 7pm, with music starting at 8pm. All performers are welcome, and admission is free.
