Popular Capel Street pub, Jack Nealon's, is to close next month after being in business for over a century.
Vincent Waters, who owns the lease on the pub, was told by the investment firm who purchased the property's debt, that it is to take back control of the building and will not be continuing it as a pub, reports the Irish Times. The pub will close on 17 April, resulting in nine full- and part-time staff being made redundant.
The bar's manager, Andrew Vysidalko, said: "People are traumatized. It is a thriving, very successful business. It is not as if it is a place that has experienced a downturn in trade. Even in the toughest times when people were losing business we were gaining. For us to hear that it is no longer going to be there in five weeks, it is horrific."
