Michelle, Malia and Sasha Obama are to dine at Finnegan's in Dalkey today with one of the seaside village's most famous denizens, Bono.
Reports of the lunch circulated when Finnegan's announced that it was to shut its doors to the public until lunchtime tomorrow. Reps from Diageo-owned Guinness were also spotted carrying new beer mats and Guinness aprons into the establishment. Finnegan's management, however, refused to comment on speculation.
After spending the night in the Shelbourne Hotel in Dublin's City Centre, the First Lady and her daughters are to visit Glendalough, Co. Wicklow this morning, as President Obama attends the second and final day of the G8 Summit in Enniskillen, Co. Fermanagh. The female members of the Obama family visited Trinity College's Long Room and Book of Kells yesterday and attended a special Riverdance performance at the Gaiety Theatre, along with 1000 young people. The First Lady enjoyed dinner at popular seafood restaurant Matt the Thresher on Lower Pembroke St last night.
Following lunch in Dalkey village, the Obamas will meet President Obama in the North and travel on to Germany.
A wide-scale security operation has been in place in the capital for the 24-hour visit of the first family, with parts of Kildare St and St Stephen's Green closed to through traffic during the period.
