Former Coca-Cola Co. chief executive officer Neville Isdell is to open a microbrewery at Dublin's CHQ Building on North Wall Quay.
Isdell, who operates CHQ Dublin Ltd, bought the CHQ building for about €10 million back in 2013, received planning permission for the development earlier this week. The proposed development will see the addition of a bar, restaurant, new mezzanine level with mini-brewery facilities which will allow for the on-site production and sale of craft beer as well as an outdoor seating area reports The Irish Independent.
The premises will have 'Urban Brewing' as its tenant, a company owned by Victor Treacy and James O'Hara who are also involved with Carlow Craft Brewery. The new microbrewery will "provide another high-quality use at the CHQ building, with clear linkages to the visitor/tourism use of Epic Ireland", said CHQ Dublin in its application to Dublin City Council.
