FBD Changes Wording Of Commercial Insurance Policies For Businesses Such As Pubs To Exclude Coverage For Infectious Diseases

FBD Insurance is changing the wording of its commercial insurance policies for businesses such as pubs and bars to exclude infectious diseases such as COVID-19 from coverage.

As reported by The Irish Independent, FBD started to update its pub trade policies last month to reflect the firm's position that COVID-19 and other infectious diseases should not be covered by business interruption insurance, and the new wording is being rolled out across other commercial insurance products on an ongoing basis.

Hearing About Pubs Dispute

The news comes just over a week before FBD is scheduled to face a hearing about a dispute between the insurance company and several Irish pubs over whether the company is required to pay for losses resulting from the closure of pubs due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The hearing is due to take place on October 6.
