Plans Rejected For New Bar On Dublin's Harcourt Street

Plans for a new large-scale bar and restaurant complex on the corner of the capital's Harcourt and Montague Streets have been rejected by Dublin City Council following objections that there is already an over-abundance of late-night venues in the area.

As reported by thetimes.co.uk, the council's rejection represents the second time in two years that permission has been denied to develop a bar and restaurant at the property in question.

The plans, which were put forth by developer Gambetta, involved transforming former Indian restaurant Saagar into a bar with an adjacent licensed restaurant and café linked by a courtyard and mezzanine level.

However, Dublin City Council put the breaks on the proposal due to its large scale, potential noise pollution and concerns over the impact it would have on the area's Georgian aesthetic.
