New Planning Application For 421-Bedroom Dublin Airport Hotel

Hotel firm Carra Shore has applied for planning permission to develop the 10-storey, 421-bedroom hotel on a site in Clonshaugh, close to Dublin Airport.

As reported by the Irish Independent, the application represents Carra Shore's second attempt to secure planning permission to construct a hotel on the site after plans to build a 427-bedroom venue at the location in question were blocked by An Bord Pleanála in October of 2017.

Carra Shore is owned by hotelier Jalaluddin Kajani and several members of his family, who also operate boutique hotels in London, as well as another hotel in Ireland.

In response to Carra Shore's claim last year that "there is a shortage of hotel rooms in Dublin and the proposed co-located hotel rooms would add a significant quantum (of rooms)", An Bord Pleanála declared that the site is part of a high technology zone in which hotels are not permitted and that the proposed location does not have access to high capacity public transport links.

However, Carra Shore is now hoping to get the go ahead to revise existing planning permission granted in 2008 to a company called Eastground Investments, which is now in receivership, for a 325-bedroom hotel on the site to allow for a 421-bedroom property.
