Craft beer makers Brú Brewery, based in Trim, Co. Meath, has purchased Smyths pub in Fairview, Dublin 3 after raising funding for expansion.

According to The Sunday Business Post, co-founders David O'Hare and Daire Harlin will further expand the company after they raised a multi-million euro round of funding.

Brú will significantly expand its brewery site this year as well as negotiate for a second pub in Newbridge as part of the expansion plan. The funding was led by former C&C finance director Alan Daly.

The Fairview pub will reamin open under the new owners for several weeks before being closed for refurbishment. It will reopen in June as a craft beer and gastropub.

Brú, which brands include Brú Lager, its pale ale Brú Rí and red ale Brú Rua, was founded in 2013 and now produces a number of core and seasonal or special edition beers.
