Fairways Hotel and conference centre in Dundalk, Co. Louth has been sold for €2.5 million - €1 million more than the guide price.
A Dublin investor has bought the 5.8 hectare site which includes the hotel, conference centre and adjoining development site. Savills handled the sale, which garnered more interest than was originally expected.
The hotel, originally built in the 1960s, is a 33-bedroom building with function room and nightclub. The conference centre was built in 2000 and comprises six syndicated rooms, a large reception area and a further 56 bedrooms.
Meanwhile, a landmark Cork hotel has been sold to a UK-based company for more than €5 million - also €1 million above the guide price, the Irish Times reports.
The Gresham Metropole hotel (pictured) has been sold to Philip Hotel Holdings, which has also purchased the International hotel and the Airport Hotel - both also in Co. Cork - in the last year.
The 112 bedroom hotel and leisure centre will be managed by Irish firm Tifco Hotel Group.
