The owners of the Shelbourne Hotel in Dublin city centre, Kennedy Wilson, have confirmed plans for a €4 million refurbishment of the best bedrooms and suites in the landmark hotel.
The US property investment group acquired the Shelbourne two years ago for €112 and has just completed an extensive restoration of its exterior with its signature red-brick Victorian facade.
In an interview with Business This Week, as reported by The Irish Times, Peter Collins, head of Kennedy Wilson’s operation in Ireland, confirmed the company is now investing in the hotel's interior.
"We'll do a lot of work in the corridors as well, which haven’t been touched for a while and will address some of the common areas that could be improved on," said Collins.
The Shelbourne is the largest five star hotel in Dublin, with 265 bedrooms including 19 suites.
Kennedy Wilson also plans to spend €15 million this year revamping the Stillorgan Shopping Centre.
