The Limerick Strand Hotel has become the first hotel in Limerick City to partner with Irish charity, Hometree.
The new project aims to incorporate environmental sustainability into future projects at the hotel and support Irish biodiversity.
'Environmental Responsibility'
"For every conference of over 100 attendees and each wedding, a native tree will be planted, reinforcing our commitment to environmental responsibility," said Kate Wieczorkiewicz, sustainability manager at the Limerick Strand Hotel.
"We are also happy to provide tips for anyone eager to host a more sustainable event."
Hometree
Hometree, founded in 2014, has since planted over 150,000 native trees such as Scots pine, willow, and alder.
The charity encourages public involvement in enhancing Ireland's habitats and biodiversity through regenerating land, conservation and restoring permanent woodlands.
Green Meetings
As part of the new partnership, the team at Limerick Strand Hotel has unveiled the new Green Meetings and Green Weddings initiatives, offering a multitude of ideas for hosting greener, more sustainable events.
This will include using the hotel’s projectors or screens for hosting paperless meetings, having both the wedding ceremony and reception on-site to reduce travel-related carbon emissions, or using the hotel’s candelabra and cherry blossom decorations to minimise waste.
Hotel guests can donate to Hometree via QR codes displayed throughout the hotel or the website.
MHL Hotel Collection
The Limerick Strand Hotel is part of the Irish-owned and managed MHL Hotel Collection, which is a collection of hotels in city and resort locations throughout Ireland.
In Dublin, the collection offers the five star College Green Hotel Dublin, the Spencer Hotel, the Morgan Hotel, the Trinity City Hotel as well as the five star InterContinental Hotel, the Hilton Dublin and The Moxy.
In Galway, hotels include The Galmont Hotel and Spa, Harbour Hotel and Glenlo Abbey Hotel.
