The Killarney Park Hotel To Unveil First Phase Of Enhancements In April

The Killarney Park Hotel has announced it will unveil a significant transformation of its 69 guest rooms, suites, grounds, and gardens, on Friday, April 4, 2025.

The independent, family-owned five-star hotel, a proud member of Leading Hotels of the World, has successfully completed the initial phase of its renewal and refurbishment programme.

“For the family, scheduling the enhancement programme in two phases is crucial to ensure meticulous execution, grounded in sustainability, while delivering an authentic Irish hotel guest experience," said Marcus Treacy, managing director.

"By integrating Killarney’s natural beauty, local craftsmanship, and sustainable practices into the design, the refurbishment and rebranding create a uniquely Irish luxury experience."

From April, guests will enjoy the reimagined guest rooms and suites by the Irish firm McCauley Daye O’Connell Architects. Drawing inspiration from Kerry’s history and landscapes, these spaces aim to serve as tranquil retreats adorned with nature-inspired hues, creating a calming ambience that reveals itself slowly, gently inviting guests in.

The Treacy family said the design brief was clear from the outset, resulting in every single touchpoint being carefully considered and sympathetic to the environment, featuring locally sourced materials and custom joinery crafted just 30 minutes away.

The refurbishment aims to blend old-world Irish charm with modern amenities such as crisp bedding and minimal decoration. McCauley Daye O’Connell Architects’ research uncovered two preserved watercolours in the National Gallery of Ireland showcasing views of the Killarney Lakes. These were expertly photographed and turned into scenic wallpaper for the suites and a backdrop for classic rooms.

"Stage two, commencing in early 2026, will transform the spa, introduce a sophisticated cocktail bar, and enhance the dining area,” said Marcus Treacy.
