The latest addition to hotel group Tetrarch Capital's portfolio has been given the go-ahead by An Bord Pleanála.
The plan involves Tetrarch firm Sagrada converting Sackville House, located just off Dublin's O'Connell St, into the new seven story 158-bedroom boutique hotel, reports the Irish Independent.
The appeals board dismissed appeals lodged against the City Council permission by An Taisce and nearby Wynn's hotel.
Wynn's, which is situated on nearby Lower Abbey Street, had claimed the planning permission should be reconsidered as the description of the hotel to be built is inaccurate and shows "a lack of ambition for the site and for the city including O’Connell Street", taking issue with the description of the hotel as a "budget boutique" hotel.
Tetrarch's new hotel is expected to open in early to mid-2018 at a cost of in the region of €16 million.
