Skeffington Arms Hotel Says Social Media Contributed To Profit Drop

The directors of Galway's Skeffington Arms Hotel have highlighted "social media" as one of the challenges facing business following a marginal pre-profit dip from €527,857 to €515,411 last year.

According to The Irish Independent, the directors declared that they include "technology and social media, increasing costs of operations and high levels and intensity of competition" to be among the problems faced by the venue.

The new accounts filed show that the company recorded the drop in its pre-tax profits after its gross profits increased by 2% from €4.38 million to €4.47 million in the 12 months to end of September 2016.

However, despite the drop in pre-tax profits, the directors asserted that "the company is well positioned within the hotel and leisure industry" and added that they intend "to offer more mid-week and weekend packages to try and attract more people to the hotel as well as continuing the refurbishment of the nightclub, which [they] committed to in early 2015."
