O’Callaghan Hotels Plans To Demolish Derelict Dublin Properties To Build Apartments

The Sunday Business Post has reported that the O’Callaghan Collection has secured permission to demolish long term derelict homes in Dublin city centre and build a new block of 82 apartments.

According to the report, a firm linked to the O’Callaghan Collection called Gold Run Properties Limited applied for permission in June to demolish a number of buildings on Fenian Street, Bass Place and Sandwith Street Upper in Dublin 2.

The Sunday Business Post reports that the development property is worth close to €5.4 million.

O’Callaghan Collection is a group of five luxurious and boutique hotels in Dublin and Gibraltar. Formerly known as the O’Callaghan Group, it opened its first hotel, The Mont Clare Hotel, just off Merrion Square in Dublin, in 1990. Other hotels in its portfolio include The Alex, The Green, The Davenport hotels in Dublin and The Eliott in Gibraltar.

The O’Callaghan Collection is a family run business that also owns Só Living, a luxury apartment rental agency.

The Group embarked on an extensive refurbishment and redesign programme in recent years. The Alexander Hotel was refurbished and renamed as The Alex in 2017, The Davenport was refurbished in 2018, The Stephen’s Green Hotel was refurbished and rebranded as The Green in 2018, and The Mont, a new hub for the 'digital native traveller,' was launched in August 2019.
