Scandinavian hotel chain Nordic Choice has said it is laying off 7,500 staff in the region due to the effects that the coronavirus is having on the travel industry.

"It is a mixture of temporary and permanent lay-offs due to the situation with the coronavirus, and it's among the Nordic countries together," CEO Torgeir Silseth told Reuters.
"I have been in the industry for many years and this is the worst thing we've ever experienced...so we have to take this drastic step to keep our business afloat," he added.
