Mount Falcon Estate in Co. Mayo is considering upgrading its star rating to five stars, if the demand for upscale accommodation continues to grow in Ireland.
The four-star hotel in Ballina would have to add some touches to be eligible for the upgrade, including adding a concierge, its chief executive Alan Maloney told the Sunday Times.
Opened in 2006, Mount Falcon boasts 32 bedrooms and self-catering lodges, a spa & leisure facility, outdoor activities as well as a restaurant and bar. It is situated on a 100-acre estate on the banks of the River Moy.
It recently invested €750,000 into upgrading the hotel and is now exploring the possibility of joining fellow Co. Mayo hotel Ashford Castle in becoming a five-star resort.
