Killeavy Castle Estate has announced the appointment of Matthew Hynds as new general manager.
Originally from Armagh, Hynds has worked as operations manager at the estate over the past two years, where he has overseen operations across all areas of Killeavy Castle Estate.
Hospitality Background
Hynds has worked in various four and five star properties across Ireland and Europe before he joined Killeavy Castle Estate in the role of operations manager, and studied event management at Ulster University.
Growing up with both sets of grandparents owning public houses, Hynds developed a passion for the hospitality industry from a young age.
AA Rosettes
Last November, Killeavy Castle Estate was named an AA four-star hotel while its restaurant was awarded two AA rosettes.
Over 90% of the food served throughout the Estate is produced within the grounds of Killeavy Castle Estate or sourced within a 20-mile radius.
'Culinary Excellence'
"This is a wonderful property from both the physical point of view with the combination of the heritage of the location blended seamlessly with the new buildings," said the AA inspector.
"Service and hospitality were both on point. Two AA rosettes are confirmed in recognition of the culinary excellence."
Sustainability Award
The Killeavy Castle Estate was also presented with the Sustainability Award earler this year at the FSB Celebrating Small Business Awards Northern Ireland 2023.
The FSB Celebrating Small Business Awards celebrate the achievements of small businesses across Northern Ireland and the contribution they make to the economy, with the Sustainability Award recognising businesses that demonstrate a strong commitment to sustainability, environmental responsibility, and social impact.
