The Merrion Hotel is planning a massive expansion plan that would see it front onto Baggot Street, around the corner from the existing entrance opposite Government Buildings, according to reports.
The Merrion's owners are currently planning to demolish an office building around the corner and replace it with either a block of luxury suites and penthouses, or a number of residential apartments associated with the hotel.
The new accommodation block will be linked to the current building that boasts 140 bedrooms by a glass walkway through the hotel's central courtyard. Not only will the hotel be extending their accommodation they also plan on adding another restaurant to their plate extending onto their existing culinary masterpiece that is the famous Patrick Guilbaud Restaurant, the only two-star Michelin restaurant in the city that is a tenant of the hotel.
