Limerick's five-star Adare Manor hotel and golf resort has announced the creation of 300 new jobs as it plans to reopen in Q4 2017 after undergoing a major refurbishment, reports RTÉ.
The hotel was bought by businessman JP McManus for a reported €30 million two years ago and has been closed since 21 January 2016 as it underwent a major facelift. Work comprised of an additional 40 bedrooms being developed; a ballroom being built that will cater for 350 guests; construction of a new pool and relaxation area; a spa; cinema; and a boardroom for up to 30 people.
Minister for Jobs, Enterprise & Innovation Mary Mitchell-O'Connor described the refurbishment as being a "huge boost for Co Limerick and the wider Mid-West region" adding that "it's also great to see the Adare Manor resort being redeveloped, given the importance and benefit of tourism to the region." Patrick O’Donovan, Minister for Tourism and Sport added: "Adare Manor resort will play a significant role in the marketability of Ireland abroad."
Despite the extensive work, Adare Manor chief executive officer Colm Hannon commented that care was taken to ensure the work honours the property's architectural heritage.
