Killarney has been named as one of the best destinations in the world for its hotels by hotel search site Trivago.
The popular Kerry town came in at eight place in the top 100 list by Trivago, which ranked global destinations by reputation of their hotels. Killarney was the only Irish or UK destination to feature in the top 30.
At 57, Galway was the only other Irish town of city to feature on the index, which is accumulated through the site's 200 million+ reviews. Only hotels with at least 60 reviews and towns with at least 130 hotels qualified.
Göreme in central Turkey finished top of the list, while four Italian cities featured in the top 10. Bath was the highest UK destination at 34.
“Killarney has certainly punched above its weight here, outranking many major cities around the world to make eighth position on our Global Reputation Ranking list with an index of 85.17 per cent,” said David Lintott of Trivago. “This is testament to the hard work Killarney hoteliers do to provide a memorable experience for their guests.”
