Developer Johnny Ronan's Ronan Group Real Estate (RGRE) firm is reportedly contemplating a plan for the creation of a new boutique hotel on Dublin's Upper Mayor Street.
If RGRE were to proceed with the plan, it would involve the demolition of five terraced houses that the group recently purchased for €3.8 million.
It is understood by The Irish Times that Ronan's Waterside Devco No 1 Limited company exchanged contracts with members of the Garry family, which runs short-stay accommodation business Canbe, to acquire the five houses in December of 2019.
Project Waterfront
The houses are located adjacent to RGRE's Project Waterfront site, which consists of two adjoining sites that have planning permission for the construction of 420 apartments and 27,891 square metres of office space distributed across four blocks. RGRE is currently in discussions with Dublin City Council about increasing the number of apartments to 1,000 distributed between two towers that would be 44 and 40 storeys in height.
RGRE hopes to develop offices, retail units, hotel accommodation, rooftop parks and a sky garden as part of Project Waterfront.
