Hotelier Acquires Property On Cork City's Camden Quay

A hotelier has acquired a half acre Camden Place property on Cork city's Camden Quay for €3.5 million.

According to The Irish Examiner, sources have identified the purchaser of the site, which faces Cork's Opera House and is 75 metres from the city's St. Patrick's Bridge, as John Kajani, who is the founder of property firm JMK Group and is associated with Carra Shore and the Seraphine Group.

Possible Hotel Plans

The same sources that identified Kajani, who owns hotels in Dublin, Waterford and London, as the purchaser of the property said that he may seek permission to develop a three-star hotel that would include as many as 180 bedrooms on the site.

Two years ago, Kajani failed to get planning permission to construct a 146-bed budget hotel on Cork city's South Terrace.
