The Hilton Hotel on Charlemont Place has been granted planning permission from Dublin City Council for the addition of a new seven-storey 97 bedroom extension to the building.
The hotel's application, which will see the hotel expand its total number of bedrooms to 305, was given the go-ahead despite objections from local residents, An Taisce and the management firm for Harcourt Green apartments, reports the Irish Independent.
One of the objections lodged with the City Council stated that the Hilton's expansion plan "will greatly degrade the environmental, amenity and living standard of its (Harcourt Green) residents".
In response to the objections, the planner argued that given the hotels city centre location, its existing height context and previous planning history for the site, that the proposed development should be considered acceptable.
