Green Light Given For Two Storey Extension Of Wynn's Hotel Of Dublin

An Bord Pleanála has given the green light for a two-storey extension of Wynn's Hotel of Dublin's Abbey Street.

As reported by The Irish Times, the planned revamp of the venue will involve increasing its floor count from five to seven, allowing for the addition of 27 new bedrooms.

Objections

An Bord Pleanála approved the revamp despite objections by the board's senior planning inspector, John Desmond, and An Taisce.

Desmond stated that the development would adversely impact the amenities of the neighbouring buildings by causing loss of sunlight and by being visually overbearing.

However, the board ruled in favour of the revamp, stating that there was a need to ensure sustainable levels of development on scarce urban lands and that the plans would not preclude development on neighbouring sites.
