The Clayton Hotel Cork City has announced the appointment of Gerry Gillen as its new executive head chef.
A graduate of the Dublin College of Catering and former employee of The Hyde Park Hotel and Grosvenor House in London, as well as The Shelbourne in Dublin, Gillen will be in charge of catering for functions and events at the Clayton Hotel Cork City. He will also be overseeing the hotel's Globe Bar and Restaurant, which specialises in contemporary European cuisine prepared with produced procured from Cork's English Market, as reported by West Cork Times.
Commenting on his new position, Gillen, said: "Being passionate about food, I’m really excited to join the Clayton Hotel Group and bring great menus that are both contemporary and classic to this exceptional and busy city centre hotel."
Meanwhile, Clayton Hotel Cork City general manager Conor O'Toole, asserted: "Gerry’s flair for flavour, expertise of fine dining and contemporary, quality restaurants, as well as his international experience in leading hotels, make him an ideal fit for the Clayton Hotel Cork City, where we have a number of exciting developments in the pipeline for our diners, guests and visitors."
Located on Cork's Lapps Quay, the Clayton Hotel Cork City is currently in the final stages of a €2 million upgrade, which has involved the refurbishment of the venue's bedrooms and the enhancement of its health, leisure and conference facilities, among other augmentations.
