German budget boutique hotel chain Motel One, which was founded in Munich by Dieter Müller in 2000 and currently operates 56 properties across Europe, is expected to open its first hotel in Dublin in the near future.
Müller and his wife Ursula Schelle-Müller, with whom he runs the company, intend to develop at least eight new hotels and expand into three new countries before the end of 2017. The couple told The Irish Times that they're "very close" to making a definitive announcement about a development in Dublin, claiming that the city "is a fantastic market, with the rates having come back very quickly after the crash."
Motel One offers flat rates for hotel rooms rather than fluctuating prices on a daily basis. Its proposed 2017 expansion is a part of a wider plan to increase the number of properties operating under the Motel One banner to 83 with a total of 24,100 bedrooms between them.
