Condé Nast Traveler magazine has named its Top 25 Resorts in Europe, with readers of the magazine voting four Irish hotels onto the list.
Mayo's Ashford Castle was the highest ranked Irish hotel at number 5, with Trump International Hotel & Golf Links in Co Clare at number 20, Limerick's Adare Manor Hotel & Golf Resort number 21 and Dromoland Castle Hotel & Country Estate number 24.
Topping the list was Turkey's Caresse Resort & Spa (Luxury Collection) with a score of 99.15, with Italian resorts enjoying much success with five entries in the top 10.
The magazine also released its list of The 50 Best Hotels in the World, which saw the five-star Ballyfin House in Laois being named the world's best hotel. It was described by the magazine as: "Beyond the regal four-poster canopy beds, gilded mirrors, and richly textured wallpapers, there are 614 acres of secluded private gardens begging to be strolled. But the real highlight? Having a butler row you out on the lake before enjoying a sumptuous lunch at the picnic house."
