Dublin's Shelbourne hotel has said that it is anticipating a busy Christmas period in 2020.
While it's currently unknown how much demand there will be for office Christmas parties this year due to the continuing COVID-19 crisis, The Shelbourne is planning to help businesses that wish to host Christmas parties at the hotel to figure out how to do so, and the hotel is also still planning to host guests on Christmas Day and have Santa make an appearance.
The Irish Times reports that The Shelbourne's general manager, JP Kavanagh, told Cantillon, "We already have people booking", and said that he expects the hotel to be "whatever full means" in a social distancing context on Christmas Day this year.
The Shelbourne is also set to host 75 weddings before 2020 ends.
Revenue Drop
However, Kavanagh expects 2020 revenue to be 70% less than the €45 million in revenue that The Shelbourne generated in 2019.
The Irish Times quotes Kavanagh as saying, "We're not going to be making money for a while. In broad terms, 2020 is an utter write-off."
