The Trump International Golf Links & Hotel Doonbeg in Co. Clare is planning to invest €40 million in the construction of a new ballroom, leisure centre and 250 new bedrooms.
As reported by The Times, the proposed extension of the venue, which was bought by US president Donald Trump for €15 million in 2014, would more than double its current room count.
Proposed Facilities
Commenting on the proposed extension, the hotel's general manager Joe Russell said, "The ballroom would give us a permanent structure. It will lengthen our season and make us attractive for more events." Meanwhile the new leisure centre would include a swimming pool, gym and movie room, while the 250 new bedrooms would be distributed between 53 separate buildings described as being "for short-term tourist accommodation."
