Following news that Chartered Land is spearheading the development of a new hotel in Dublin's Ballsbridge, Dalata has expressed its desire to acquire the lease for the new venue.
The new hotel is planned to be developed on the site of a former Jury's venue where Dalata currently operates the Ballsbridge Hotel under a lease agreement that ends in October with an option to extend until March of 2019. Once Dalata's lease expires, the current hotel will be demolished to make way for Chartered Land's proposed 211-bedroom venue.
Speaking to The Irish Times, Dalata chief executive Pat McCann said Dalata would be interested in leasing the new hotel "if it's a deal that suits us and the board approve."
He added, 'We've been working with [Chartered Land] on design, but that’s as far as it goes. They’re under no obligation to us, but we’re always hopeful."
