Co. Kerry's Killarney Park Hotel has appointed a new general manager.

The Killarney Park Hotel stated, "The Treacy family are delighted to announce that Marcus Treacy has taken on the role of General Manager at the five-star Killarney Park Hotel.
"Although the title may be a new one, Marcus certainly isn’t new to the management team at The Killarney Park and has been firmly embedded in the operational side of the hotel for many years now. In fact, if you asked Marcus when his first shift at The Killarney Park took place, we'd be talking about the time of the millennium - when he was a young boy doing his part in helping out with the family business.
"'When you've grown up learning the hotel business without even realising it, it just becomes second nature, it's in your blood,' says Marcus. 'My grandmother opened The Ross [an adjacent sister property to The Killarney Park] in 1938, my parents Padraig and Janet took over in the 80’s and then opened The Killarney Park in the nineties. I've been lucky enough to have learnt from the best and, on top of that, I'm surrounded by an unbelievable team, who really make the hotel what it is, and are a credit to its success. Without our amazing team the hotel would simply be a very nice empty building, so we owe it all to them. Our team are every bit a part of the family that drives this business forward.'"

The Killarney Park Hotel added, "Marcus grew up learning his craft, in his hometown Killarney, working in all areas of The Ross and The Killarney Park. These formative years steered him in the right direction as he moved on to study International Hotel Management at Shannon College.
"From there Marcus spent time at The President Wilson Hotel in Geneva and several years in New York at the world-famous Waldorf Astoria Hotel before returning back to Ireland to oversee Food and Beverage Operations at The Shelbourne Hotel in Dublin. Marcus adapted back into Killarney life very well five years ago, when he returned to the family business as Operations Manager...Marcus has also spearheaded the hotel’s impressive sustainability plans, an area close to his heart, and The Killarney Park and The Ross have subsequently been accredited for a long list of sustainable practices including being powered by 100% renewable gas and electricity and being certified as single use plastic free hotels."
