The Dalata Hotel Group has invested almost €2 million in the refurbishment of the Clayton Hotel on Cork city's Lapps Quay.
Having recently had 100 of its bedrooms renovated as well as opening the Red Bean Roaster Café, the hotel is now in the midst of several more significant changes, such as the addition of snugs and other meeting-friendly areas to its atrium.
The hotel's restaurant and bar will also be rebranded as the Globe Restaurant and Bar and act as a bistro-style eatery, serving steak and artisan dishes with an emphasis on produce sourced from local food emporium, The English Market.
The Club Vitae leisure club will be upgraded to include 32 new cardiovascular machines, including state-of-the-art treadmills, spinning bikes, upright cycle and recumbent cycle bikes, total body cross trainer and cross ramp. On top of this, the club's fitness instructors have received extensive training on how to use all of the new technology and equipment.
The hotel's general manager, Conor O'Toole, declared that the investments have been made “to ensure that this already popular 4-star hotel in the city centre remains the preferred choice for both business and leisure visitors and travellers.” O'Toole went on to express his pride in the hotel's team as well as his gratitude to the Dalata Group, who acquired the hotel in October of 2016. He then concluded by asserting that the "new Globe Restaurant and Bar will be a great addition to the hotel and we look forward to welcoming diners throughout the day, every day.”
Further renovations will continue during the year and the Clayton Cork City will remain open for business throughout the refurbishments.
