Castleknock Hotel and Country Club, owned by hotel group FBD, is to press ahead with a €7m facelift that will see it add an additional 46 rooms to increase capacity to 190 rooms.
Work on the hotel's expansion is expected to begin in November and be completed by early 2018, reports rte.ie, which added that last October investment group Farmers Business Developments acquired the 50% holding of its former joint venture partner – insurer FBD – for €48.5m and now wholly owns the hotel company.
The new rooms will comprise 38 standard, five superior and three deluxe rooms, while the hotel's day spa, which currently located on the first floor of the hotel, will move to the ground floor, with the addition of a new aerobics suite and five new treatment rooms.
