One of Ireland's finest Irish country house hotels, Castle Durrow in Co. Laois, is celebrating its 300th anniversary this year.
To mark this special occasion Castle Durrow will be hosting a series of events throughout the year, including a lavish garden party to kick off the summer, and a 300th birthday masquerade ball in the autumn.
One of the Ireland’s Blue Book hotels, Castle Durrow was originally built by Capt. William Flower (later to become Viscount Ashbrook) in 1716 as his family home in the Midlands of Ireland.
In 2015, Castle Durrow was named one of the Top 10 Castle hotels in the world by Tripadvisor, and the Blue Book reports that its rose garden is the only Irish garden to feature in the David Austin Catalogue. Austin runs one of the largest rose breeding programmes in the world.
The original design of Castle Durrow has been lovingly restored by Shelly and Peter Stokes and is now one of the country’s most popular wedding venues.
