Ballynahinch Castle Hotel Records Losses Of Nearly €300,000

Ballynahinch Castle Hotel, in Galway, reported a loss of €288,432 last year, to bring its accumulated losses to €5.7 million at the end of December 2023, according to a report by The Irish Times.

According to the report, the deficit for 2023 was more than three times the loss (€78,300) recorded by the hotel in 2022. Turnover rose by 1%, to just under €8.5 million, while the hotel posted an operating profit of €440,434 – down by 23% on the previous year.

Located in the heart of Connemara, businessman Denis O’Brien purchased the luxury property in 2015. Ballynahinch Castle, a member of Relais & Châteaux, is set on a private 700-acre estate, and the castle has 48 bedrooms and suites, and a five-bedroom villa, for exclusive use.

The Owenmore restaurant, located within the property, was awarded Ireland’s Fine-Dining Hotel Restaurant of the Year in January 2024, at the Gold Medal Awards.
