The 5-star Ashford Castle has been named the winner of 'Ireland's Best Hotel Spa' category at the 2016 World Spa Awards.
The ceremony, which was held in conjunction with the 2016 World Travel Awards Europe, celebrates the best of European hospitality.
The awards programme, which is in its second year and was created to increase growth in spa tourism, also saw Ashford Castle's sister property, The Oyster Box Hotel, win South Africa's Best Hotel Spa 2016.
Ashford Castle's spa was launched in 2015 and was the final installment in the property's recent restoration. Facilities at the spa include a hammam, steam room, manicure and pedicure areas, a relaxation suite, five treatment rooms and a couple's room.
The 85-bedroom Ashford Castle, which is located on 350 acres of Irish countryside that overlooks Lough Corrib, has a 9-hole golf course, falconry and fishing schools, an equestrian centre, tennis courts and was recently named as the Best Resort Hotel in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
